Welcome to the City of Toledo's new place. Toledo has a population of approximately 3,680 and is situated on a bend of the Yaquina River and surrounded by wooded hills. Toledo is just seven miles inland from the Central Oregon Coast and the only inland coastal community with a deep water channel. The historic town cascades over the hillsides to the river.The MISSION of the Toledo City Government is to provide efficient, economical and necessary public services that protect and enhance the quality of life in Toledo, now and in the future, as determined by our citizens, the law and available resources.
Cities large and small have been selected based on their community's story, two most pressing challenges, and description of three projects completed in the last five years that demonstrate collaboration and have had significant local impact. The projects are judged on "participation of the public, private and nonprofit sectors and key constituencies to the maximum extent possible; recognition and involvement of diverse segments and perspectives; creative use and leveraging of community resources; significant and specific community achievements; and projects that address the community's most important needs." Toledo's application described our Centennial Celebration, the Highway 20 upgrade project and the skatepark project.
